OBITUARY

Raymond Eugene Uhl, age 94 of Monroe, passed away on August 20, 2026. He was born in Indiana on August 3, 1932 to the late Justin Uhl and the late Catherine Gettelfinger Uhl. He was preceded in death by his great granddaughter, Vivian Rae Schoenbachler.

Surviving are wife, Theresa Mattingly Uhl; daughters and sons in law, Rose Brown (Joe), Donna Schoenbachler (Tom); 4 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

As one of nine children, Ray grew up on a farm in Palmyra, Indiana. He later joined the Merchant Marines and, by chance, met the love of his life in Louisville, Kentucky. After starting his own business, Ray learned to fly and developed a true love for aviation. He embraced every adventure in the air, eventually taking his passion to new heights by flying aerobatics.

Ray also had a lifelong love of hunting, fishing, golfing, and just about anything that allowed him to enjoy the outdoors. He especially enjoyed sharing stories of his many adventures. With his warm and outgoing nature, Ray could easily strike up a conversation with anyone he met, often leaving them with a story and a smile.

A memorial service will be held on Friday September 11th at 2:00 pm at St. Anna’s Catholic Church with Father Brian Bufford officiating.
