OBITUARY

Mary Jean Anderson Barnes was born on October 6, 1929 to parents – Della Mae Roberts Anderson and Carey Wilson Anderson, Sr. of Social Circle. Her grandparents were Eunice Jane Moore Roberts and William Sidney Roberts.

Her mother passed away at the age of 29. The grandparents stepped up to raise 5 children – listed in birth order: Carey Wilson Anderson, Jr., Mary Jean Anderson Barnes, Margaret Anderson Haralson Bryant, Bennie Ray Anderson, Sr., and Thelma Ruth Anderson. 

On March 15, 1949, Mary Jean married the man who changed her life – Thomas Benton Barnes. They raised 4 children together and were soulmates for almost 40 years. Their children couldn't have asked for more supportive parents. They were required to be respectful and exhibit manners. These parents taught great lessons that would benefit these children.

 Their children as listed as follows: Carol, Carey, Lee Anne, and Andy. Carey left this world in 1978 due to a terrible car accident. This forever severed the family! Another very hard event was a fire that destroyed their entire business. Thankfully, strong family will fight together and all are survivors raised to be strong.

Survivors of Mary Jean are as follows: children: Carol Patterson (Dale), Lee Anne Crawford, Andy Barnes (Regina); sister-in-law: Mary Kate Anderson; grandchildren: Terri Patterson Weatherly (Keith); Kelley Patterson Kologinczak (Matt), Rusty Patterson (Crystal), Reid Barnes, Hunter Barnes; great grandchildren: Houston Kologinczak, Chase Kologinczak, Piper Patterson, Rori Kate Patterson; several cousins, nieces, nephews and other family members. 

Mary Jean was an excellent homemaker, cook, quilter, and loved a good party. She will be irreplaceable. She knew a lot about cars. Lastly, she attended Atlanta Business College briefly.
