It’s hard to put into words how much you will be missed. I hope everyone knows how grateful I am that I got to have you in my life. From our childhood days in the neighborhood to all the years that followed, you will always hold a special place in my heart.

Hearing of Dean’s passing has broken many hearts , mine being one of them. My sincere condolences go out to his precious momma and step dad. Though I haven’t known him near as long as most of you, I met him in 2021 after moving here from Florida. I met and made an instant friend. He nicknamed my sister and I , his Good Hope girls. He was sunshine personified! Friendly, funny and hilariously snarky . When our Daddy died in December of 2024 , we of course went to Dean to order his beautiful flowers. He gave us a very generous discount. His kindness will never be forgotten.
I know he met Jesus with open arms and is so happy to be reunited with his Daddy, Dolly and The Carters. Go rest high on that mountain, dear friend. We down here on earth will hold your momma and family up in prayer.

The universe lost part of what makes it sparkle Sunday night. When these things happen it makes us stop and wonder why, why would God take something so good away. It’s at that point we have to realize it’s what he gave us not what he took from us that we need to focus on. When your friend, family or funny guy in a flower shop makes you smile, let them know they make this world better. They will never take credit, but at the end of the day they will know it’s all worth it. Dean, I’m a better person for knowing you and the world is at a loss for you leaving us so soon! I can say without doubt, Dean lived every day of his life, there was no pause in his world evidenced by the fact he was working Sunday night. He literally worked 7 days a week, but lucky for him, he loved his work.

Dean was my daughter’s neighbor in Athens when she was in graduate school. I got to know his magnetic personality, and I was drawn to him. I loved his wit, passion, and amazing ability to make everyone a priority. He didn’t say stuff unless he meant it.
He was one of the most genuine people I ever knew.
He did our daughter, Chelsey’s wedding in Athens.
Our friendship deepened. The wedding was perfect and gorgeous because Dean was a perfect planner. Most importantly, he was a perfect and most loving person.
