Susan you will be greatly missed. You were always so kind to everyone and you never judged. Which I will always love and cherish about you. You have always been here in my life wether we saw each other everyday or not your love and kindness was always a constant. The first thing you always said was jen come give me a hug. Those hugs will be greatly missed. But I got your message the other day and that gave me peace knowing you are ok and you aren't hurting anymore. See you again one day!

Dear Susan,
You came into our lives not as a stranger hired for a job, but as a quiet answered prayer. My parents were fading—bodies weary, spirits dimmed by illness—and the nights had grown long and heavy with worry. Then you arrived, with your gentle hands and steady heart, and everything changed.
You were more than a nurse. You were the light that slipped through the curtains each morning, the soft voice that coaxed laughter from lips that had forgotten how to smile. You moved through our home like a guardian angel in scrubs, tending to fevers and wounds, yes—but also to hearts that were breaking in slow motion. You sat with my mother when pain stole her words, holding her hand until peace returned. You teased my father until his eyes sparkled again, reminding him he was still the man who once danced in the kitchen. You brought love wrapped in competence, and joy tucked into every syringe and bandage change.
I have never known anyone who loved her calling the way you did. While others might have seen duty, you saw sacred ground. Where there was suffering, you brought dignity. Where there was fear, you brought courage. Even in the hardest hours—when breath grew shallow and goodbyes hovered unspoken—you stayed. You never hurried the moments, never looked away from the pain. You bore witness with tenderness, as if every life you touched was a story worth honoring to its final page.
It is rare, so rare, to find a soul who can walk through sickness and death and still carry light. You did. Every day and every night, you chose kindness when exhaustion whispered retreat. You chose laughter when tears would have been easier. You chose to love people who could not love you back in the ways the world usually measures love—and in doing so, you showed us what love truly is.
Now, at sixty-five, your tired body has laid its burdens down. The pain that shadowed your final years is gone, and you have gone ahead to meet the Jesus you served so faithfully on earth.
I know you are whole again, laughing in a place where night never falls. I know you are resting in the arms of your Heavenly Father, the One who first taught you how to care.
We who remain feel the ache of your absence deeply. The house is quieter without your footsteps, your stories, your great food. But we are not without hope. Because of you, we know what faithfulness looks like. Because of you, we believe even more surely in the home that waits beyond this one.
Thank you, dear friend, for every moment you gave us. Thank you for teaching us that caring for the sick is holy work. Thank you for loving so completely that even grief cannot dim the beauty of it.
One day, when He calls us, we will find you there—smiling, pain-free, surrounded by the countless lives you touched. Until then, rest well. You have earned it.
With all my love and gratitude,
Kee, for the Hunsucker family.

I worked with Susan doing CNA work thru Because We Care from 2011 to 2014. We worked together as a team looking after the elderly. She was so sweet and a hard worker. Always laughing and have fun. She will truly be missed. Condolences to her family.

I knew Susan when we were in The Monroe Girls Corps. We both played snare drums. She was a big part of the Shields’s family. Her father drove the Corps some. Her mother was the nurse and a chaperone for the Corps. When daddy went to Park Place I saw Susan. I ran to her and hugged her and told her thank God she was there.
I’m so sorry for her loss but thankful she’s out of pain
