Look up the word “Class” in the dictionary and Laura McElroy’s picture should be there.
I had the honor of attending church with her for several years. She was a wonderful faithful servant.
Wes and I are praying for the family.

I first met Laura a couple of decades ago through Jim. Whenever I saw her she always seemed so happy to see a familiar face and she made everybody feel better with her million dollar smile. Several years went by when I didn't see her and then was happy to run into her again when she was in the loving care of Phil and Judy. Some things may have changed but that warm sweet smile did not. She will most definitely be missed by all her family and friends.

Laura was my Mother-In-Law for 41 years. I have called her Mom since the day Phil and I married June 24, 1984. She and I were the lucky “In Laws”. We had a loving, caring and very respectful relationship. The Respect was key when you have 2 women who are perfectionists living in the same house for 9 years and 7 months! Mom was a Brilliant Paralegal who was extremely articulate, quick witted, well versed in the Law and an amazing mentor to those starting out in the profession of Paralegal. We had many vacations with Mom and Dad (Jim). We loved every single one. Especially Long Boat Key Vacations. Mom played piano every day until the dementia worsened. Then it was a few days a week, and then only occasionally .
But she actually played for a bit 5 days before her passing. AT 91 YEARS OLD, That’s impressive.!
When her Dementia took over, it became time for me doing everything for her. I was honored and privileged to be given the responsibility of her care by God. I don’t know why He made the choice of me being her caregiver, but I am thankful every day that I was the one he chose. Mom would always ask how old she was, we would tell her 89 or 90 or 91. Depending on what year it was. It always surprised her how old she was. I kept telling her that if Moses could lead 2 million Israelites through the Wilderness from the time he was 80 years old, for 40 years until his death, she could live to be 120 too. She said, I’ll try to live to be 120, but I’m not leading 2 million Unruly, Disobedient, Crazy people ANYWHERE! Like I said…quick witted! She Loved God with all her Heart, Mind and Soul. Jesus was her Lord and Savior. Her devotion to her faith and Our God was who she truly was, and it showed in absolutely everything she did throughout her life. The Holy Spirit glowed from her entire being.
I Love You So Much Mom. I miss you every single day. I am so happy that your suffering has come to an end and that you are whole again in the arms of Jesus in Heaven!
