OBITUARY

Walter Earl Jenkins, age 87 of Monroe, Georgia, passed away on September 30, 2026. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Audrey Owens, who passed away on July 25, 2021.

Walter proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from April 1957 through July 1960.

Walter faithfully served at East Newton Baptist Church in Covington, Georgia, for more than 20 years before moving to Monroe, Georgia. His faith and service to his church were an important part of his life.

Throughout his many years, Walter worked in the trades as a plumber, carpenter, and electrician. He was highly knowledgeable and skilled in construction and was the kind of person who could work with his hands and figure out how to fix or build just about anything.

Walter enjoyed the outdoors and especially loved hunting, fishing, and camping. Some of his fondest memories were made outdoors with his brothers, sons, and nephews. These shared experiences created lasting memories that his family will continue to cherish.

He will be lovingly remembered by his children: Brent Jenkins and his wife, Phyllis, of LaGrange, Georgia; Malinda Daniel and her husband, Tom Daniel, of Griffin, Georgia; and Steve Jenkins of Monroe, Georgia; his grandchildren, Megan Jenkins, Savannah Fulbright, Samantha White, and Sabrina Jenkins; and his great-grandchildren, Aubrey Fulbright, Charlie Fulbright, and Sadie White.

He is also survived by his brother, Douglas Jenkins, and Douglas's wife, Jewel Jenkins. Walter was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Jenkins, Ray Jenkins, Hugh Jenkins, Willis Jenkins, and William Jenkins, and his sister, Carolyn Garris.

Walter will be remembered with love by his family and friends for his faith, his many skills, his love of the outdoors, and most of all, the life he shared with those he loved. The memories he created with his family will remain in their hearts for generations to come.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
