OBITUARY

Charles Ray Collins, age 81 of Social Circle, passed away on June 3, 2026. Ray was born in Hoschton, Georgia on August 31, 1944, to the late John W. Collins and the late Runette Hawkins Collins. Mr. Collins was preceded in death by his sister, Joni Canup, and his brother, Royce Collins.

Surviving members of Ray’s family are his wife of 63 years, Janice Conner Collins; daughter, Meredith Collins; sister, Pat Stone; brother, David Collins; sister-in-law, Gale Collins; grandchildren, Ashlyn Pannell and Tiffany Pannell; and great-granddaughter, Delainey Richardson.

Ray was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved his family above all else. A quiet and gentle man, he was a man of few words whose actions spoke volumes. Ray was a hard worker and was known for his strong work ethic, intelligence, and creativity. He had a remarkable ability to fix just about anything and was always willing to lend a helping hand when someone needed it. Ray’s kindness, steady presence, and unwavering love for his family will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Pleasant Valley Methodist Church in Monroe with Rev. Jeff Clegg officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Valley Methodist Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., also at Pleasant Valley Methodist Church.
