OBITUARY

Clyde William Oxford, age 94, of Temple, formerly of Covington, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 12, 2026.  Born in Atlanta on October 13, 1931, Clyde was the beloved son of the late Merrill Oxford and Ruby (Ingram) Railey.  He was also preceded in death by his brother, Ralph and Roy Oxford, and his sister, Marie Norton.  

A proud patriot, Mr. Oxford honorably served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War, where he was awarded the Purple Heart.  After his military service, Clyde dedicated forty years to his career as a truck driver.  His commitment to serving others extended beyond his profession, as he devoted over fifteen years as a fireman with both the Walton County Fire Department and the Social Circle Fire Department.  He was also a Master Mason and held the esteemed position of Tyler at Dawson Lodge #68 F&AM of Social Circle.   

Family was the heart of Clyde's life , and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.  He is survived by his son, Robert William Oxford, and wife, Karen of Lithia Springs; his daughter, Jeanie Stewart of Temple; and his grandchildren, Amy Lorntzen and her husband Erik, Amber Paris and her husband Randall Bunn, Steve Sullivan and his wife Jennifer, and David Sullivan and his wife Jessica.  Mr. Oxford is also survived by his great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and by his many friends and additional relatives.  

Clyde William Oxford's legacy of service, dedication, and love will be lovingly remembered by his family and community.  

There will be a memorial service on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Meadows Funeral Home in Monroe, Georgia.  Ronnie Moon will be officiating.  A small visitation with family and friends will be held prior to the service from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm.
