OBITUARY
In Loving Memory of Carol Annette Higgins
July 28, 1950 – November 4, 2025
Our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Carol Annette Higgins, 75, of Good Hope, Georgia, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2025. Born in Atlanta on July 28, 1950, Carol was the daughter of the late Annette Downs and Earl Harris, and sister to the late Scott Harris. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Michael “Mike” Higgins, Sr. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and family — a bond that remains unbroken even in her passing.
To know Carol was to be loved by her. She had a warmth and light that drew people in, and her laughter could fill a room. She loved deeply, lived fully, and never missed an opportunity to make someone feel special. Carol was happiest when surrounded by the people she loved most — her family, her lifelong friends, and her faithful fur babies.
She leaves behind her devoted children, Vanessa Hine (Doug), Genny Altwies (Mark), and Michael Higgins, Jr., who will forever carry her love in their hearts. Her grandchildren — Austin Altwies, Grace Hine, Sophia Hine, Claire Hine, Kate Higgins, and Edward Higgins III — were her pride and joy. She adored each of them and delighted in watching them grow, cheering them on in everything they did.
Carol found joy in the simple, beautiful things in life — riding horses, reading a good book, spending sunny days at the pool, shopping trips with her girls, and vacations by the ocean. She was a proud Georgia Bulldog fan, always ready to cheer on her team with enthusiasm and heart. But above all, she cherished every moment spent with her family and her circle of dear friends who had been by her side since high school.
Carol’s life was a beautiful example of love, laughter, and kindness. Her spirit will live on in the stories shared, the memories made, and the love she gave so freely.
A celebration of Carol’s life will be held at a later date, where family and friends can come together to honor her memory and the joy she brought to so many.
She will be missed beyond words but remembered with endless love — reunited now with Mike, the love of her life.
