OBITUARY

With hearts full of sorrow and gratitude we honor the life of Hazel Allen, a woman of unwavering faith, a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and friend who went home to be with our Lord and Savior on November 1, 2025.  Hazel lived a life centered on her faith in God and her devotion to her family.

Hazel was born on March 9, 1935 in Monroe Georgia to Richard Ira Breedlove and Jewell Stone Breedlove. Hazel graduated from Monroe Area High school in 1953 and was a proud member of the drum and bugle corp during her school years. She married the love of her life, Vievan Allen and together they shared an extraordinary 70 years of marriage – a true testament to love, commitment, and faith.

Hazel lived in Gratis where she built a warm and welcoming home filled with laughter, music, and the aroma of her cooking. She was a talented cook known for her hospitality and the meals that brought her family together. A gifted pianist, she often filled the house with music, and she found immense joy playing with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Hazel loved to travel and see the beauty of God's creation and cherishing every adventure. She also enjoyed spending time  playing cards with family and friends and could often be found cheering on her beloved Atlanta Braves, never missing a game if she could help it.

In her later years, Hazel faced the challenges of dementia with remarkable strength, surrounded by her loving family. The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff and caregivers at Graceful Manor who provided tender care and comfort during that time.

Hazel will be remembered as the heart of her family – faithful, kind, strong, and selfless. She was truly the best woman, whose life was centered on faith, family and love.

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Vievan Allen, and her sister Arlene Breedlove Lowery. She is survived by her daughter Cyndee Brown (Bryan). Granddaughters, Lauren Davis (Blake) and Morgan Garner (Ryan). Great grandkids: Tate, Bodie, Paislee, Charlee, Clara, and Waylon. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Bernard Lowery and niece, Tina Lowery Korpi.  Who will continue to honor her memory by living out the values she's so beautifully embodied.

Visitation will be 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at Meadows Funeral Home in Monroe, GA.  A funeral service will take place at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at Center Hill Baptist Church in Gratis with Rev.  Ron Wilson and Rev. Steve Moon officiating. Interment will follow at Center Hill Baptist  cemetery.
