OBITUARY
Georgia Lee Dailey, known to her family simply as “Boosty” went home to be with The Lord Friday, December 13, 2024. Georgia Lee was born April 7, 1933 in the family home located in Walton County just outside the city limits of Monroe Georgia. She was the daughter of Willie Bass Dailey and Mamie Crenshaw Dailey, who have preceded her in death. She was a life-long member of Walker Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a graduate of Monroe-Area High School and was an employee of Walton Mills, where she worked with all her siblings, Robert Lee Dailey, William Thomas Dailey, Effie Dailey Stowe, Levey Dailey Greene, who all preceded her in death, as well as her sister Frances Dailey King, at some point during their life. Georgia Lee worked in the Walton Mills for over 50 years where she was a Weave Room Instructor. Over her career she received many honors. Several times during her career she was Textile Citizen of the Year for Walton Mills, and was runner up for the same award for the state of Georgia. On 2 separate occasions, she was recognized by the State of Georgia as Georgia Textile Instructor of the Year. It was often said to her that when she retired they would close the mill. That what actually happened, she retired on a Friday and they closed the Mill the following Monday.
Georgia Lee was also a lover of Southern Gospel Music, especially her beloved Inspirations. She and her late sister Levey started following the group when they first started singing in 1964. Levey stated that they were going to continue to follow the singing group because they were going to be really GOOD! She was right, in 2024 The Inspirations celebrated their 60th Anniversary of singing gospel music and service to the Lord.
Bootsy also loved her family, spending her later years living with her sister Frances, she was always up for a trip. Her favorite places to visit was Alaska and Hawaii, often teasing a family member with “you know I think we need to go back to Hawaii again.” She always enjoyed interacting with her nieces and nephews. She would try to attend activities and ballgames when she could. She would always open her home up to the family for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners and family gatherings. This Obituary can be summed up best by a Facebook post from her Great Niece Stacey Stobaugh Towler, It Read: My great-aunt was a true fan of Jesus and the Georgia Bulldogs. Georgia Lee, or Bootsy as we all lovingly called her, lived her life for the Lord, celebrating the gifts He gave her and sharing her blessings with others in quiet, selfless ways. On game day, no one cheered louder for the Dawgs.
This weekend, she got to meet some of the Bulldogs Players —and she also got to meet Jesus. I can’t think of a more fitting end to a life so full of faith, love, and devotion. Rest in peace, Bootsy. You’re surely by the side of Jesus now, and if He’s as all-knowing as we believe, He’s already asking for some of your coconut cake. You will be missed.
She is survived by her sister Mamie Frances King (Rev. John), Nieces Rebecca Anne King Chandler (Bill), Shirley Dailey Evans, Patricia Dailey Fulcher (Binnie Ray), Brenda Dailey Stobaugh. Nephews Warren Joseph Greene (Mary Wiley) and John Marshall King Jr. Great Nieces Pam Evans (Gary), Kathy Fergson, Kelly Stobaugh Fowler (Brandon), Stacey Stobaugh Towler (Jamey), Susan Hodges Wilbanks, Great Nephews Chris Chandler, Will Chandler, Keith Fergson, Joshua Fulcher (Kelly).
