OBITUARY

Lana Denise Sorrells, age 65, of Monroe, passed away on April 18, 2023. She was born on March 25, 1958 to the late Mary Alice Hodges and the late Thomas Hodges. She was preceded in death by her sister, the late Debra Hodges; three brothers, the late Thomas Hodges, Jr., the late Jake Hodges, and the late Keith Hodges.

Denise was born and raised in Monroe, GA where she attended Monroe Area High School. After, she received her cosmetology degree from Athens Tech and was a successful cosmetologist in her community for 20+ years.

Denise was married for 33 years and welcomed two sons, James Evan Sorrells and Thomas Bradley Sorrells. She was a devoted Christian and attended Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church where she was the youth leader in her early years. Denise enjoyed time with her family and friends. She enjoyed laughter and was strong in her faith.

Denise was a devoted mother, grandmama, daughter, sister and friend. Surviving members of the family are sons and daughter-in-law, Bradley and Ashton Sorrells, and James Evan Sorrells; grandchildren, Thomas and Presley Sorrells.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, April 21,2023 in the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with the Rev. Chris Conner officiating. Interment will follow to Mt. Vernon Christian Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm at Meadows Funeral Home.
