OBITUARY

Gail Smith Atha, age 75, of Monroe, died on Wednesday, October 14, 2015. She was born at the Breedlove Dairy Farm in Monroe, GA on February 26, 1940 to the late Doris Sorrels Smith and the late Charles Douglas Smith. She is survived by sons & daughter-in-lawâ??s, Bruce and Sarah Atha of Hiram, Bob and Deborah Atha of Monroe; brother, C. Donald and Joan Smith of Simpsonville, SC; sister, Joyce and Johnny Taylor of Monroe; grandchildren, Jessica and Faith-Ann Atha; nieces, Cindy Smith Atkins and Ginger Smith West; nephews, Allen Smith and Scott Taylor; great-nieces, Elise Taylor and Audrey Atkins; great-nephew, Davis Taylor. Gail was a 1958 graduate of Monroe Area High School. Her favorite title in the whole world was Me-Maw to her two granddaughters whom she loved to the moon and back. She loved listening to gospel music, reading all kinds of books and the Walton Tribune, doing word searches and getting on Facebook. She loved watching Days of Our Lives. Her favorite singers were her son, Bruce, her two granddaughters, The Gaitherâ??s and George Straight! A Funeral service was held on Saturday, October 17, 2015 in the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Lee officiating. Her pallbearers were Scott Taylor, Davis Taylor, Allen Smith (Honorary), Chris Atha, Tim Atha, Johnny Ledford, and Jacob Lee. Interment followed at East Lawn Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Abbey Hospice, 415 Azalea Court, Social Circle, Georgia 30025. Meadows Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of arrangements.
