OBITUARY
Betty Jean Ledford Bennett, of Loganville, Georgia, affectionately known as Betty Jean or "Gan," passed away peacefully at home, on May 27, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Betty Jean was born in Moultrie, Georgia, on May 8, 1941 to the late Mamie Worlds Ledford and the late Floyd Lee Ledford.
Betty Jean moved to Monroe, Georgia in 1972, where she created a home, and raised her family. Betty Jean's strong will to live was unmatched, and her beautiful life was a testimony to that. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and peacemaker for her family. Her family was the light of her life and she cherished them beyond measure. Betty Jean was a woman of strong faith and enjoyed her time between Walker Baptist Church and 1025 Church. Her church community meant the world to her. She loved to hear the word of God and her grace and belief of loving everyone was strong. Devoted to God's word in order to gain everlasting life, she knew she was going to be with Jesus. She wore many hats within her community. She had a passion for childcare and ran an in-home daycare for many years, mainly watching children of teachers in the community as well as children of family members and close friends. She was also a provider, a seamstress, a bird watcher and most of all an amazing cook. Even in her last days, she wanted her family to get together and have one last feast with her, instructing everyone on how to make her recipes exactly how her family loved them.
Preceding her in death are four sisters, four brothers, and her parents.
Surviving Betty Jean is her loving husband of 62 years, Fred E. Bennett; son, Tony Bennett and wife Jann; grandsons, Ty Bennett and Hannah Byrd, Zac Bennett and wife Kara, and Logan Williams; great grandchildren, Tayte Bennett, Brynlee Bennett, and Adalynn Williams; sisters, Emma Hall, Lorene Hullem, and Pauline Hazelton, and many nieces and nephews and extended family.
A visitation will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at the church Betty Jean attended, 1025 Church in Monroe, Georgia. A memorial service will follow at 11:00am, with Pastor Tommy Fountain officiating.
