OBITUARY

Dorothy "Jean" Jones Queen, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many peacefully passed away April 10, 2025, at the age of 93. Born in Monroe, GA, Jean lived a life rich in love, laughter, and service. 

She married Gene Queen moving to Lithonia, GA where they raised their family. She dedicated her career as school secretary for Rock Chapel Elementary School during this time. She moved back to Monroe to be with her family before ultimately moving to Lake Oconee where she was a devoted member of Walker United Methodist Church. 

Jean was very passionate about soaking up time with her children, grandchildren and great grand children every opportunity she had. She also enjoyed playing Bridge with her friends, fishing, reading, and watching her Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldogs. 

She is predeceased by her husband, Gene Queen and parents HL (Mike) Jones and Vallie B Hinton Jones. She is survived by her son, Hal Queen (Sharon), her daughter, Beth Baxley (Steve), her grandchildren Josh Baxley (Jennifer), Andrea Phillips (Jeff), Rachel Baxley (Jason), Jacob Baxley (Carina) and her great grandchildren Caden, Gunner, Ryder, Avery and Madison as well as numerous nieces and nephews. 

Our family sincerely appreciates the excellent care and the spoiling she received by her amazing and wonderful caregivers at Great Oaks Assisted Living in Monroe, GA and Abbey Hospice in Social Circle, GA. A memorial service will be held at Meadows Funeral Home in Monroe, GA on April 26th with visitation from 10:00am - 12:00pm and service at 12:00pm in the chapel.
