OBITUARY
Kathryn Lee Kamienski
May 13, 1970 - March 26, 2025
Kathryn Lee Kamienski, 54, of Monroe, GA went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 26, 2025. Kathy was born on May 13, 1970 in Jacksonville, FL to Patrick Kamienski, Jr and wife Sue.
Kathy began her life with the challenge of Down Syndrome, but that did not discourage her parents, nor Kathy. Kathy and her family started her schooling early by piloting a special education program at Morning Star Elementary; this was the first of many times she would be featured in the local paper throughout her life. She continued her full-time education as her family moved to Georgia and she graduated from Shiloh High School in 1989. Over her school years she participated in many Special Olympics events and her highest accolade in this arena was to swim in the Georgia State Special Olympics earning several medals, including gold. With her high school degree, she went on to work at Kroger for many years earning loads of money in tips and winning the best bagger competition beating out every single bagger in the local Kroger stores. Later, she retired with her parents to Monroe, Georgia, where she became an active member of her community, joining the First Baptist Church of Monroe and the Monroe Golf and Country Club. Her many friends would see her getting lunch from the snack bar or swimming in the pool. At church, she enjoyed greeting and hugging people on Sunday mornings (she was known as a hugger) and attending Wednesday night dinners and Bible Study. She took her faith seriously and truly let her light shine for Christ. “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” John 1:5
She is survived by her parents, Pat and Sue Kamienski, younger sister, Sherri and husband Britt Jennings, niece, Lily Jennings- all of Monroe, Georgia; aunt, Kay Kamienski of Jacksonville Beach, Florida, and good friend, James (Uncle Jimmy) Lasseter of Canton, Georgia.
A Memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 30th at 2:30 pm at the First Baptist Church of Monroe with Dr. Todd Ware officiating. There will be visitation with the family immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts be made to the First Baptist Church of Monroe Connections Team, 202 McDaniel St. Monroe, GA 30655. Meadows Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
