OBITUARY

Diane Denney Guthrie, age 64, of Monroe, Georgia, passed away on January 29, 2025. Diane was born in Athens, GA on November 24, 1960, to the late Linda Ann Scarborough Denney and the late Charles Donald “Pete” Denney. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Guthrie; sister, Connie Gordon.

  A proud mother and hard worker, Diane began her working life in 1978 at Monroe Mills and was a superior weaver until the day the cotton mill closed. After the closing of the mill, Diane went back to school at Dekalb Tech. She graduated in 2006 with a Business Degree. In 2011, her work at Hill Haven Memory Gardens began. In 2013, Tim and Betty Cornett bought the cemetery and Diane instantly became family.

Diane loved UGA softball and football. She enjoyed attending as many games as her schedule allowed. It was a pure joy for her. Along with her Pepsi, she enjoyed a delicious meal at Logan’s “Peanut Place” and Texas Roadhouse in Athens. She also was an avid Bingo player in Monroe and Loganville.

Surviving members of the family are special fur baby, Pringles; daughter and son-in-law, Sheronica and Oscar; step-son, Cliff Guthrie; step-daughters, Amanda Puckett and Tracy Edwards; step-grandchildren, Meagan, Alana, David, Gracie; several nieces and nephews.

Diane lived her life in love, kindness, and generosity for her friends and family.

A funeral service will be held at Meadows Funeral Home on Monday, February 3, 2025 at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at Hill Haven Memory Gardens.
