OBITUARY

Mickey Scoggins of Monroe, GA was called home to be with the Lord on January 6, 2025 at the age of 68.

Mickey was born in Macon, GA on July 29, 1956 to Sammie and Alice Scoggins. He is survived by his devoted wife Ellen, his parents, and his five children — Jeremy (Jennie), Jason (Joy), Joshua (Jessica), Jonathan (Katie), and Joanna.

In addition to being the proud Granddaddy Mickey to 6 grandchildren — Joseph, James, Jacob, Henry, Alice, and Luke — he is also survived by his brother Tommy Scoggins and by numerous nieces and nephews.

Mickey graduated from Southwest High School in Macon in 1975. After working as the meat department manager for Piggly Wiggly in Macon, he served as store manager for Farmers Furniture in Monroe, GA for sixteen years. A true believer in Jesus who was saved at eight years old, Mickey knew where he was going and had no fear of what awaited him when the Lord finally called him home. He remained an active member of Bible Baptist Church in Monroe and took great joy in being a part of the choir and community. His favorite hymn to sing was “What a Day That Will Be,” and his favorite gospel song to perform was “I Bowed on My Knees.”

Mickey excelled in leadership because he never met a stranger and was always eager to make a new friend. He was a great support to those around him and took great pride in spreading the Gospel at all times. He strove to leave the world a better place and to inspire people with the hope that is needed to move through this life. He made a true impact on the lives of countless people, particularly through visiting nursing home residents and calling patients at Emory University Hospital.

The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to St. Jude Children's Hospital in lieu of flowers.

The family will receive friends at Meadows Funeral Home in Monroe on Wednesday, January 8 from 5 to 7 P.M. The service will be held at Bible Baptist Church in Monroe the following day at 11 A.M.
