OBITUARY

Roberta Catherine (“Kay”) Watts, age 85, of Monroe, passed away on January 3, 2025 at her home with her family by her side.

Kay was born in Detroit, Michigan, on July 21, 1939 to the late Frederick C. Powers and the late Marie E. Powers. Kay met her husband of 58 years, William T. (“Tom”) Watts, Sr. in Tampa, Florida, and they moved and lived together over the years in Tampa, Spanish Fort, Alabama, Marietta, Georgia and Fairhope, Alabama before moving back to Walton County in 1991, where they lived for the rest of Kay’s life. Kay loves the Lord Jesus Christ and was an active member of Christus Victor Lutheran Church in Athens, Georgia. Kay loved to garden, cook, knit and sew, and take care of her husband, children, and grandchildren.

Kay is survived by her husband, Tom, her daughter and son-in-law, Molly J. Harris and Keith A. Harris, her son and daughter-in-law, William T. (“Thomas”) Watts, Jr. and Candace P. Watts, and her grandchildren, Carly Harris, Faith Harris, Caty Watts, and Sarah Watts.

Kay was a beautiful person, kind and beloved by all. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother, a great friend, and a smart educator with amazing foresight into early childhood education and development. Quick-witted, funny and bright, Kay was kind to everyone and had a limitless capacity to love those around her. She is loved greatly in return. Kay was faithful to the end and rests with her family, friends, and Savior. She will be sorely missed.

Visitation will be on Monday, January 6, 2025, from 10:00am-11:00am at Meadows Funeral Home, with a memorial service to be held at 11:30pm at The Mitchell Family Cemetery, Highway 11 North, Social Circle, Georgia, with the Rev. Gregory Michael officiating.
