OBITUARY
Michael "Mike" Gerard Timm, age 68, of Monroe, passed away on December 16, 2024. He was born on February 2, 1956, in Columbia, South Carolina, to the late Nell Coughlin Timm and the late Paul Arthur Timm. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Kim Timm.
Mike is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Timm; daughter, Stephanie Crocker (Jeremy); sons, Kelly Timm, Charles Green (Amanda), and Clayton Green (Sunni); grandchildren, Mitchell, Ciera, Grayson, Trevor, Carter, and Tatum; sister, Patti Timm Price (Ron); nephew, Jeff Price; niece, Katelyn Holder; great-niece, Emmalee Hatcher; sister-in-law, Carol Lester (Gerald); and brother-in-law, Chip Carter.
Due to his father's service in the Army, Mike spent his childhood living in New Rochelle, New York, and Orleans, France, before his family settled in Columbus, Georgia (Ft. Benning) when he was 8 years old. He graduated from Columbus High School and Columbus College, where he excelled as a baseball player at both schools.
Mike met his first wife, Kim, in 1981, and they married in 1982. After living in Athens for several years, they moved to Monroe, where they raised their two children, Stephanie and Kelly. They attended First Baptist Church of Monroe. Mike worked for the Georgia Department of Community Affairs for over 30 years, retiring in 2010.
Four years after the tragic passing of Kim, Mike found love again and married Kathy, gaining two additional sons, Charles and Clayton.
Mike's pride and joy were his grandchildren, who lovingly called him The Great "ABU". He cherished every moment spent with Mitchell, Ciera, Grayson, Trevor, Carter, and Tatum, creating countless memories that will live on forever.
Outside of his family, Mike enjoyed life's simple pleasures—his beloved dog(s), a round of golf, working in his yard, cheering for the Georgia Bulldogs and Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and watching all kinds of sports. He loved traveling, especially to the beach and the mountains, and spent time volunteering around Monroe.
Mike will be remembered for his warmth, love for his family, and zest for life.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 20, 2024 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Meadows Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with the Reverend Todd Ware officiating.
